Circumpolar Oil Spill Response Viability Analysis

An oil spill response viability analysis improves understanding of the potential for different oil spill response systems to operate in given weather and sea conditions.

This portal presents the results of a 2017 analysis commissioned for the circumpolar Arctic region, with updated data regarding ocean and environmental conditions. The portal allows users to explore the results of this analysis for a specific location of their choosing or a pre-determined area. Site users are strongly encouraged to review the portal guide, and to review the full report for explanation of the study approach, methodology, and limitations.

This portal was developed for EPPR by DNV and Nuka Research and Planning Group, LLC under contract to the Norwegian Coastal Administration. The EPPR project was co-sponsored by Arctic 2030, the Norwegian Coastal Administration, The Environment Agency of Iceland and the Nordic Council of Ministers.

The original technical report project was developed by DNV and Nuka Research and Planning Group, LLC under contract to the Norwegian Coastal Administration and the U.S. Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement. The EPPRĀ“s project co-leads were Norway, USA, and Kingdom of Denmark.
